Puzzle: Six-piece wooden Knot of Calamity

This six-piece wooden puzzle is quite difficult to put together.

Let's look at the pieces...

Pieces 1 - 3

1. The E
2. The plain offset (The notch on one side is offset from the notch on another side)
3. The chiseled offset (Like the plain offset, but with an extra piece chiseled out of it)

Pieces 4 - 6

4. Nested notch small (The small notch on one side is entirely contained within a large notch on another side)
5. Nested notch medium (Like the Nested notch small, but the smaller notch is not as small)
6. The key (a plain block with no notches)

I'll give you a hint first, then the solution further down.

1. Start with piece #1, then add #2, placing it across the first piece.
2. Next, add #4 on the third axis.
3. Then add #3 to the mix.
4. Next comes piece #5
5. Finally, lock it together with #6, the key.
